It Hurts in a really good way

Finally. The album from Hurts has arrived. Since the first glimpse of the now already classic "Wonderful Life" more than a year ago this release has been eagerly awaited. And how is it then? Just as good as you could hope for. Strong pop melodies, powerful vocals, filled with patos and emotions. They are labelled "synthpop" but the album has more "traditional" sounds like guitar, piano and strings than pure electronic. And the saxophone is back in contemporary pop ... very reminscent of ABC. Theo's attitude and suit on the cover is almost a copy of Numan on Pleasure Principle. Which is of course fabulous.
Hurts seems to be moving rapidly from obscurity to mainstream - their first video was homemade and cost only 300 gbp (yes, the one in black and white with the strange dancing girl). The new video for "Better than love" must have been a little bit more expensive. But it still contains dancing girls. Follow Theo on Twitter... he seems to be pretty obsessed with girls ... you might think he got them in truckloads these days.
Enough gossip and chit chat. The music is catchy and impressive and that's what counts. It will be interesting to see if Hurts can conquer USA like La Roux seems to be doing these days. >MySpace.
