"Borderline". New single from The Girl and The Robot.

Plastique and Deadbeat are back - with a new EP focusing on the two tracks "Silence" and "Borderline". There is even a video to accompany this release, so it's seems they have serious backing by their label Trisol.
The sound has changed a bit. Borderline is heavier, less shiny, in some ways more traditional and there is even an electrical guitar here. TG&TR certainly hasn't lost the knack for writing songs. One peculiar thing is german Plastique singing in swedish. Plastique already revealed this in an interview last year. "Borderline" is on repeat in my headphones. Read more.

The Girl & The Robot. Recommended.

► Out of nowhere comes a brand new act consisting of Plastique aus Germany and Deadbeat from Sweden. They hooked up through the internet and has just released the impressive debut album "The Beauty of Decay". One of the best of 2010 so far.
► It's a typical 'boy with synthesizers and girl with pleasant voice' act. And it's good. Really good. Reminds me a lot of the masters from Parralox but it's not as über poppy and not as smooth. The Girl & The Robot has their own quirky charme ... and a little bit of german accent. This album is getting better and better every day.
► In the video above please listen carefully from 2:55 when "I Don't Care" and from 3:40 when "Whole" takes off. Pure Pleasure Pop.
► Unfortunately TG&TR are not planning on playing live.
► Just one little aber dabei. The bandname is ridiculous and does not match the high quality of the music and lyrics in general. It could maybe be ok if it was inspired by the excellent Röyksopp song with the same name. But the band stresses that this is not the case.

The Girl & The Robot: The background.

► Plastique is also a part of well established Welle:Erdball and has been for the past 5 years. Welle:Erdball is blip blop electro with both male and female vocals in german. MySpace

► Deadbeat has a one man band called "Second Unit" and makes calm and nifty electro pop with computerised vocals. MySpace

► Previous Deadbeat had a band with the name "Deadbeat" with singer Helena. They made a nice album called "Collaboration in a Distance". Get it for free here (thanks to Deadbeat). Wait! This album is from 2005 but it's still really interesting. Maybe even great. I'll give it a try.

► And there is even more. Deadbeat has also made electro pop under the alias "Epicure". But this is more exotic than good with Deadbeat singing in swedish. Get it for free here.

► It seems Deadbeat (Magnus Norr) has also been part of alternative rock band Recluse.
