IAMX. Act out your inner drama queen.

► In the mid 2009 IAMX released the third album “Kingdom of Welcome Addiction”. Chris Corner is the man behind the pseudonym IAMX and he has a long musical history starting with British trip-hop band “Sneaker Pims” in 1994. Six years ago he decided to become IAMX and turn more electronic (like a lot of other bands these days).
► Chris Corner is often mentioned as a favorite artist among fans of electronic music. But actually it’s not especially electronic on this new album - not more than your average contemporary band. To the contrary it’s dark and heavy rock with electric guitars, catchy bass lines and throbbing drums. Maybe it can be labeled “Electroclash”, but “Emo” is equally suitable.
► The one thing that sets IAMX apart from the rest is Chris Corners amazing haunting vocal filled with pathos and tremolo.
► I was certainly not convinced about this album in the beginning. The icebreaker to me was the phenomenal “Think of England”. A classic. Then “I Am Terrified” and then hooked on to “My Secret Friend” (with Imogen Heap). And then “You Can Be Happy”. And then.
► Play it loud and act out your inner drama queen.
